On Saturday October 17th Squantz Engine company, which is one of 3 fire company's in the town of New Fairfield held a wetdown at their firehouse on Route 39 from noon until 5pm for their new 2008 sparten gladiator pumper with a 700 gallon foam tank built by Gowens and Knight in Watertown. The pumper was delivered and put in service in August. The firefighters had a buffet of food for those who attended and sold t-shirts and sweatshirts.

The afternoon started out quiet until a convoy of apparatus led by Ball pond's Assistant Chief Mike O'Toole with a tanker and engine from ball pond and a tanker and Engine from company "A" also a Tanker from Sherman Fire dept and 2 trucks from Putnam New York fire dept.

The firefighters had a huge water fight with several hoselines from all the apparatus while the spectators stayed dry inside the firehouse bay.Only 1 call came in for a pile of burning pallets while the wetdown was taking place and engine 2 from Company "A" responded to the call. The rain held off for the afternoon and a good time was had by all that attended.
